Review: Flubber and friends show

Flubber the clown played by Martin D’souza along with his friends Willy & Chubby take you through 60 minutes of simple entertainment. The story begins with 3 friends who enact simple messages targeted at kids under 6 with stories & songs. A few of the parents we met thought it was fun while the others wished it would have been slightly longer and yet another thought there were too many songs but maybe that’s what works with kids.

Exclusive Review The Flubber and the Friends show

Unfortunately we don’t get to see too many clowning acts in India . The last one I remember is the International Clown Fest India and how we wish that we would see a lot more of these.  Don’t miss the photo booth as soon as you enter the waiting area at Canvas Laugh Factory. I can’t put a finger on who was more excited the parents or the kids in trying the different wigs and going clickety click with varied expressions. Loved it too!

Flubber the clown played by Martin D’souza along with his friends Willy & Chubby take you through 60 minutes of simple entertainment. Simple because it’s for the kids! The story begins with 3 friends who enact simple messages targeted at kids under 6 with stories & songs. As the act unfolds the parents find it hard to keep themselves amused and entertained and believe that humour and entertainment can’t be this simple. We have forgotten that kids can be taught with fun and music too! The kids on the other hand enjoy the simplicity in communication. The kids loved the ‘Oye’ and the Magician act. Music is an intrinsic part of the show with a song to support each of the messages. They do tend to get a little repetitive but it reinforces the message well.

Chubby the character is extremely lovable, entertaining and someone the kids can relate with. A few of the parents we met thought it was fun while the others wished it would have been slightly longer and yet another thought there were too many songs but maybe that’s what works with kids. We also caught up with a few kids and they giggled all through their responses. One said “Chubby is so funny” the others loved the songs especially the “I just wanna be”.

Given that we attended a Saturday afternoon show we weren’t surprised to see a lot of dads turn up with their tiny tots.  If you thought clowns are only about juggling, painted faces and unicycles then Flubber and his Friends will change that perception.  They help teach the kids simple messages laced with humour & music.
