Highlights:

  • The good news at the outset! As we key in this story, Atanu Das has qualified for the pre-quarters of the Archery individual event in the Olympics. He defeated his Nepali and Cuban counterparts convincingly to secure a berth in the top 16! Congrats Atanu!
  • Atanu Das started his tryst with archery at the age of 14, where he trained under coach Mithu Da in Kolkata and 2 years later he trained under the Korean coach, Lim Chae Wong.
  • He has qualified for the Rio Olympics, his debut one, because of his stupendous performance at the trials in Bangalore, bettering his seniors Jayanta Talukdar and Mangal Singh Champia.
  • He has earlier represented India in the mixed team and men’s individual event for World Championships and coveted many silver and bronze medals.
  • Atanu is presently working for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Kolkata.
