Being in the spotlight is not new for this low-key Bachchan girl, but this Mother's Day, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, mother of two, shed light on her parenting thoughts, what she believes is the right amount of freedom and how kids today are different. From striking a realistic equation with her kids to knowing everything that is going on in her children's lives, Shweta is a perfect blend of modern and traditional day mother. Here's a sneak peek into her parenting style!
If you thought Shweta Bachchan Nanda was a cool mom, who was also a friend to her kids, think again! The Bachchan lady is very particular when it comes to behavior and hence likes to have a realistic equation with her kids.
"No, I am not their friend. I am their mother! I have a communicative and realistic equation with my children. When they were little, they came to me with bruised knees. Today, they come to me with bruised hearts. They ask my opinion, but they don’t have to obey it. I’m not strict about the teenage rites of passage stuff. I am strict about behaviour, that is very important to me."
2. On Being A Modern Mommy
Shweta believes that raising a child today needs a mix of being modern and traditional. And that is precisely what she swears by.
"I actually oscillate between traditional and modern. I like some of our Indian traditions. I like, for example, the respect we give our parents and elders here. It feels good, so I follow these traditions."
3. On Freedom For Kids Shweta does not expect to know everything about her kid's lives. She gives them the freedom to choose their paths and make mistakes. She adds that there is no shame in failing and that she will be there to get their back at all times.
"I do not expect that I will know everything that is going on in my children’s lives, but I am always in on the important stuff. For me, that is enough. I do not want to live through them. I do not want them to live the life I plan for them. I want them to chart their own path; if they fail, there is no shame, and I will be there to pick them up."
4. On Raising You Sons And Daughters Equally The star-kid seems to follow her dad's footsteps when it comes to raising sons and daughters alike. Big B recently announced how his properties and fortune will be inherited equally by his son Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda.
"Do not have one set of rules for your sons and another for your daughters. Both should have equal opportunities"
