As a child, my fondest memories are of running home from school, grabbing a snack to eat and running for my music class! Echoes with you too?
It was very common for us back then to pursue an after-school activity, in almost all households. It was vocal music for me, violin for my brother and some of my cousins took the Western Music route. Were we good at it? I would say, yes. Did we pursue it? Nope.
Sadly in our country, the mindset is always to treat these passions and hobbies as “extra-curricular” activities and beyond a particular age and class, we don’t pursue it with the same vigour and zest. We owe it to academic pressure or the lack of the right motivation to go beyond the usual 2-classes-a-week mindset, especially in sports or music lessons.
In a recent interview with Kunal Basu, Founder of Swirl Music, Mansi Zaveri, Founder of Kidsstoppress.com, delved into the significance of music education for children and how his brand is shaping the future of young musicians across the country.
