What is the one common thing moms do at night after their child hits the bed? No- not work (we are too tired, please). Pinterest. We tend to check out the various DIY craft ideas, home decor, organisation and storage, apparel and hairstyling tips from the world of Pinterest and get on to a 'pinning spree'!

This mom did that too- like you and me- and the ideas that inspired her led to the launch of her own brand- Essika Kids. Scroll down to read what this brand makes and how this mom's passion helps in #SimplifyingParenting!

About Essika Kids:

Essika Kids makes comfortable and elegant clothing for kids from 6 months to 8 years. What you don't find here is run-of-the-mill stuff with the usual designs but the goodness of handloom textiles and the best of Japanese designs. How do they do it?!

What do they make:

Conceptualised by MBA grad and designer mom Merlin Jebin, Essika Kids was born out of the mom's passion to weave magic into traditional Indian handloom textiles with the best of Japanese designs so kids wear- what makes them comfortable the most. Breaking the notion that kids wear needs to be all glitzy with shining colours, Essika Kids scores in the fabric department. The hand-woven fabrics stay away from loud embellishments and focus on your child's elegant and classy look with the help of Japanese- inspired designs.

About the products:

Essika Kids makes apparel for boys, girls as well as unisex wear for kids from 6 months to 8 years. And with sustainable clothing being the latest trend, Essika Kids scores high on that front with their handloom clothing– and something that is not batch produced as well. The makers tell us that these fabrics should be washed with mild detergents like soap nut (that again steer clear from chemicals). Also, all the products are pre-washed and pre-shrunk to give them a lived-in feel and to avoid colour bleed during your first wash.

Their collection starts from Rs 600 onwards and you can find apparel upto Rs 2500 here.

What Kidsstoppress thinks of this:

  • If you are particular about the clothing with rough synthetics brushing against your child's skin- you can breathe a sigh of relief. Essika Kids, run out of a design studio in Bengaluru- works only on handloom clothing, naturally dyed- and GOTS certified fabrics.

  • The awareness for sustainable clothing is on the rise and brands like Essika Kids help bring back Khadi to our children's wardrobe. The smooth texture of Khadi combined with the fuss-free Japanese designs makes them an ideal pick. Did we say it makes your li'l ones look elegant and classy too?!

  • Essika Kids is looking to expand their range in the organic cotton section with more hand block prints to ring in the festive season- and we can't wait!

  • The faded look and designs devoid of cartoon characters might not get you the best reaction if you are shopping for these with the kids- but once they see how comfortable they are in this- they will surely love it.
