As parents I always feel we have a chip on our shoulder when it comes to our kids. We walk around all day thinking we have all the answers, demanding that they listen to us, and when we are rushed for time we even stifle their never ending questions.

We are constantly guilty of asking our children to grow up and act their age when they indulge in childish pranks. Now here is something that will make you stop in your tracks and rethink that thought. This Children’s Day why not let our children be children and let them have their childish behavior and irrational thinking.

A Ted talk by a 15 year old American child prodigy Adora Svitak, has over 4 million views and offers  important insights for parents to raise better adults.

At such an young age, Adora Svitak has become known internationally as an activist, author, and as an advocate for literacy and interest in reading and writing. According to her, in order to create a generation better than the last, this world needs bold ideas, wild creativity, and optimism which stems from ‘childish’ thinking.

So this Children’s Day sit down with your child and listen to Adora Svitak talk about how as parents we can be supportive of their ‘childish’ dreams because you never know when that might be the next great idea!
