Names have always been a big deal with celebrities, be it Bollywood or Hollywood. The little Nawab created quite a stir, recently, with his unconventional name and that sealed 2016 for us. But, there’s more to it! The naming trend has been evidently different in Bollywood and Hollywood. While B-town stars have mostly stuck to conventional names, Hollywood has heard some of the wackiest ones.

The Conventional Trend in Bollywood
While Viaan Raj Kundra was considered a little off the track back then, the little fellow’s name soon became popular and also caught up in a lot of households. Other names like Aaradhya, Misha, Rahyl, Aaryan and Suhana were not so unconventional and hence did not attract much debate.
However, the latest celebrity kid in town, Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, did create a frenzy, minutes after he was born. While Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s little Nawab is sure to be remembered for his Royal lineage, one cannot look through the drama that unfolded on social media sites, soon after Taimur’s name went official.

From religious to historic and unique, guesses were made left, right and centre about the little boy’s name. In fact, after mimicking Kim K’s fashion during her pregnancy, we were wondering if Kareena decided to take cues from her even with regard to naming her baby. However, the fire eased once Taimur’s parents silenced all critics by bringing to light the meaning of their baby’s name. The word ‘Taimur’ in Arabic means Iron.
While such is the trend in Bollywood, Hollywood, on the other hand, has been pretty loud and clear about its love for unconventional names. Kim K and Kanye West’s idea of naming their kids Saint West and North West did come as a shocker to fans and why not, these are definitely not names we have ever heard of.

And the craziness does not end there! Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green named their sons Journey River and Bodhi Ransom Green respectively. While there is no clarity on what went behind this name, we do know that Beyonce and Jay-Z put in a lot of thought for their little daughter’s name. ‘Blue Ivy’ has a great logic to it. Beyonce and Jay-Z chose Ivy mainly because of their obsession with the number 4. They married on 4 April 2008, one of Bey’s album is called 4 and the couple also have matching roman numeral for four – IV – tattooed on their wedding fingers. If that’s less, they were also born on 4 September and 4 December respectively. As for Blue, Jay-Z has a trilogy of albums with the word in the title, including The Blueprint, The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse and The Blueprint 3. Now, that’s pretty interesting, isn’t it?

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin also broke all norms when they named their baby Apple Blythe Alison. Well, why we wonder! Apples are sweet and hence Miss G picked the name, we hear.
