We all know the wonders learning a new language can do to the brain. We have scientific facts that have shown how languages can prove beneficial to our children’s minds. My little one wasn’t an early bird when it came to talking and that got me thinking. It then struck me, that her little brain of 18 months was too busy processing 3 languages that talking in just one took a slight backseat.

And it was a matter of just a few more months before she breezed through the 3 languages and knew just right what to use when and to whom! As parents, that left us happy and we wanted to make sure we expose our little girl to more languages so that she will be able to learn them better now, than later (Trust me, in my thirties, I am finding it hard to learn a new language!) Kids need a learning experience that’s both enriching and entertaining. That’s when we came across Lingo Starz– a fun way for kids to learn new languages.

What is Lingo Starz?

Lingo Starz launched recently this year introduces children to the world of languages though easy-to-use flashcards and reading materials that make learning fun!

The force behind Lingo Starz:

Priyali Gadia, a Chartered Accountant by profession, an educator and a mom to a 2.5-year-old, always had a penchant for learning and teaching new languages. She realised there was hardly any quality reading material in Mandarin available to teach kids below 5 years and that’s when she noticed the visible gap in the Indian market that proved a hindrance when learning new languages. She soon came upon the idea of child-friendly material to learn new languages and Lingo Starz was born!

This entrepreneur mom has entered a market that is already quite cluttered with Berlitz leading the pack for European and Asian languages and it will be interesting to see how she constantly innovates in this market. Flash cards as a concept has in recent times come under scrutiny for being nothing more than teaching aids and is generally looked at as an archaic mode of learning. Parents now believe a lot more in hands-on leanring and more exploratory forms of learning. With the market already flooded with language activity and sticker books, it will be interesting to see how Piyali continues to innovate and make Lingo Starz relevant for Indian parents. So, will Lingo Starz be nothing more than reinforcement tool? Only time will tell.

What Kidsstoppress thinks about it:

  • Every flashcard comes with an English translation and a guide to phonetic pronunciations, that helps children learn better and is based on the Glenn Dorman’s method of learning.
  • Lingo Starz needs to up their game so they stay relevant for today’s parents.
  • We like the quality of flashcards as they seem sturdy and can’t be torn by kids easily.
