It was a gloomy Saturday afternoon and all that was on my mind was hot tea and samosas. I was just not game to enter the kitchen and get my hands dirty, so I frantically looked for the best places that would satiate my craving. That was when college memories came gushing down and I realised how much I missed Thom’s bakery!

One of the oldest and the best bakeries in the city, Thom’s has been a delight for Bengaloreans for ages now. Established in 1960, the bakery was a favourite hangout spot for the old and the young. I also have memories of how my father would sneak in time over the weekends, and religiously pay a visit to this little gem in the city. And from then on the iconic bakery has been famous for their bread, samosas, sweet treats and a whole lot of other knick-knacks, which still (I mean it) taste exactly the same! And the best part is that the bakery happily retains its old-world charm till date, even with their pricing, which is also one of the reasons why it has garnered loyal customers.

What’s On The Menu
Once here, you are sure to get drowned in an aroma of fresh bakery goodies, leaving your mouth salivating to savour the delicacies. For the starters, you could dig into their warm, crumbly, veggie-packed puffs or samosas. They come in vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions and are just too good to resist.

The mini pizzas, loaded with cheese and veggies are great for the kids. Once you have gulped all these down, lay your hands at their sweet treats. From gooey chocolate eclair buns to doughnuts, muffins and tea cakes, you are spoilt for choice at this olden day treasure. End your meal with the imported cool drink they are famous for!
P.S:Â Don’t miss their plum cakes! My kid gulped down two big chunks!

This aside, Thom’s also sells freshly baked in-house bread. And we must admit, keeping in mind, all the fancy loaves of bread that are sold in the market today, Thom’s’Â milk bread undoubtedly stands out! So make sure you grab a loaf!

Once you have loaded in those calories turn around and head to their supermarket. Thom’s has a fancy, little supermarket which stocks some truly fancy imported stuff. From pasta dressings to milkshake powders, cheese and candies, their supermarket has a little from every part of the globe. Lastly, the bakery also sells veggies, so that’s all under one single roof. In short, eat while you shop is what one will experience at this iconic bakery.
