This Petting Farm, Just 120 Kms From Mumbai Is My Child’s (& My Favourite)

Last weekend, we visited Jhapaloupe. Spread over a 12-acre facility Japalouppe is a riding facility that also has other farm animals like bunnies, pigs, ponies, emus, ducks, geese, turkeys, turtles, hamsters, guinea pigs, goats, cockatoos, dogs, cats & more. Here’s why we loved this day trip with my daughter.

Animals and outdoors. This combination is every child’s favoruite. While I am tired of complaining about no school, no activities for my child in the last year and a half, I think it’s time to create the most beautiful memories with my little one.

I recently asked my husband if we could visit a petting farm near Mumbai and before Pune with my child over the weekend. He grumbled because of the weather. But we couldn’t resist the experience since it was only 120 km away.

Personal Experience At Japaloupe

  • We had to pre-book our visit so the slots wouldn’t be taken up and we reached Japaloupe around 11.30 am.
  • We immediately started our experience with the pony ride. Helmets were shared for safety. I was extremely happy because the horses looked healthy and well-fed as supposed to what we have experienced before. It is recommended to the pony ride first if you reach at 11.30 am because horses are also on a schedule and you will miss the opportunity.
  • Then, there was a little orientation where the guide tells about the animals and animal behaviour. They also divided us into small groups and shared buckets with food for each animal.
  • My least favourite was the chickens because they run helter-skelter! My trick was to throw bread crumbs far away, so I could get them to stop following me for a little while. You may find this annoying as well, but surprisingly, the kids love it!
  • The farm was very clean and we loved the no-waste policy. The guides helped us overcome our fear when we were feeding the bunnies, pigs, ponies, emus, ducks, geese, turkeys, turtles, hamsters, guinea pigs, goats, cockatoos, dogs, cats & more.
  • I loved our picnic spot where we immersed ourselves into nature, and ate while watching the horses in the fields. I must confess how homely and yummy the food was! We were at Jhapaloupe for around 3 hours.
  • If you are wondering if you could take an infant to Jhapaloupe, you can! Just strap them on and let them enjoy the farm animals just the way we do. Make sure you don’t plan on Wednesdays because they are on their day off!
  • Japaloupe is also very famous for its horse riding courses, and you could sign up for camps too.
