We are constantly fighting our children because of the increasing screen time and the decline in reading habit. What we are forgetting is the many benefits you receive from storytelling. Wondering how to include this activity in your child’s routine?

I read to my child every night and I send her for storytelling workshops. Here is why I find it extremely useful:

  • It promotes brain development, imagination, teaches your child about language and emotions, and strengthens your relationship.
  • Telling stories, singing songs and saying rhymes together are also great activities for early literacy skills – and your child will probably have a lot of fun at the same time.

Baby Book Babbles is a programme that just hits the right spot when it comes to this activity. Here’s what we are fascinated about. Read all about it on #FindItOnKSP

What is Baby Book Babbles?

Book Baby Babbles offers storytelling classes for toddlers and curates children’s books. It helps parents access to information and tools required to raise readers.

“Readers are born in the laps of their parents.”

About the founders:

Kadambari Mehta has a background in Advertising and Public Relations and she worked with Kangaroo Kids as a pre-school teacher and taught middle graders creative writing. Baby Book Babbles started off in August 2016 as a simple social media page where she talked about her reading journey with her daughter. She decided to use this platform as a way to open a dialogue with other mothers to talk about some of her favourite books that they read as a family. She also runs the India Chapter for Book Fairies Worldwide which is a non-profit organization that focuses on the joy of sharing books to encourage reading as a habit among people of all ages.

  • It aims to design a storytelling programme that makes reading a fun activity for a child so they can enjoy this with the family at an early age itself.
  • The class intends to help parents raise readers with evolved emotional intelligence and boost language as well as comprehension skills in children.
  • The programme encourages children to explore his/her own personality.
  • It also has an interactive session where they push the children’s limits to test what they like and what they don’t.
  • Each reading session starts with reading and then moves on to a variety of activities such as music and movement, sensory play, messy-play, art and craft to cater to curious minds.
  • All the activities are designed to connect back to the story they read in class – allowing them to have hands-on visual and sensory experiences for every book they read.
  • Every child takes a copy of the book back home that was read to them which allows them to immerse themselves into the pictures and words at their own pace and preferred time.
  • They run weekly one-hour sessions
