And in addition to serving as a popular library and bookstore in the city, Trilogy also organizes creative writing and storytelling workshops and other literary events periodically. And earlier this year, when The Guardian compiled a list of the best independent bookstores in the world based on suggestions by its readers, Trilogy was the only Indian bookstore to make it to the list! Trilogy includes these small indie publishers that don’t often get seen in bookstores or libraries in addition to famous Indian and International titles. A visit to the library is always fun. Being surrounded by the mere scent of books and heading to bed with these favourite collections close to your chest, is every book lover’s dream. And now, as a parent, I am happy I have passed on the interest and love of reading to my daughter. But, there are times when I go to a library and I feel lost seeing the vast collections and to search for the books I prefer, becomes an ordeal. How great would it be if I could have my own library, with books suited to my interests- some that I could borrow and some that I can even buy and a lovely corner nestled between these books? Sounds wonderful? We just described Mumbai’s Trilogy.
Trilogy:
Trilogy, started by The Eternal Library, is Mumbai’s first curated library and bookstore, and literary event space. In short- it is every literary lover’s hangout!

Idea behind Trilogy:
The power couple behind Trilogy is Meethil Momaya and Ahalya Naidu Momaya. Meethil is an International award winning professional wildlife photographer and Ahalya, having worked earlier with leading magazines and dailies, runs her own book editing and publishing consultation firm. They started Trilogy to serve as a curated library, hyper-curated bookstore and the destination for hand-picked literary events. The duo felt there was a lack of a good well-curated library and bookstore in Mumbai and worked towards setting up Trilogy.
And in addition to serving as a popular library and bookstore in the city, Trilogy also organizes creative writing and storytelling workshops and other literary events periodically. They have also hosted an interesting workshop on ballet and Harry Potter parties! And earlier this year, when The Guardian compiled a list of the best independent bookstores in the world based on suggestions by its readers, Trilogy was the only Indian bookstore to make it to the list!
Why parents will love Trilogy:

As parents, when we strive to bring the best of the titles and author to our kid’s learning space, some of the small names, that are equally good are overlooked. Trilogy includes these small indie publishers that don’t often get seen in bookstores or libraries in addition to famous Indian and International titles. The amazing feature about Trilogy is the confluence of a library and a bookstore. Since they take pride in housing some of the rarest and hand-picked collections, the owners are open to customers even ‘buying’ a book from the library shelf. Trilogy tells us that in the curation process, they add books that were considered our generation’s favourites when we were growing up and they also focus on classics and historical fiction for children. Interestingly though, what you will not find at Trilogy are Geronimo Stilton, Captain Underpants, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and a few other titles that are published regularly, but do not compare to other titles in content and vocabulary.

There are Indian and International books for writers and photographers, entrepreneurs and travellers, parents, children and history buffs. They also have a bilingual and regional languages section, featuring books in Bengali, Hindi, Marathi and basic alphabet books in 7 Indian languages. They wanted to create a space that valued books, readers and writers and nurtured the habit of reading. So if you want a quiet and useful time for your kids, you know where to head to. Trilogy serves as a quiet, distraction-free reading environment, with lots of acclaimed Indian and international books (fiction and non-fiction) and personal attention for those who need help finding a good book to read.
