My wife and I were struck with that question at pretty much the same time and literally stumbled upon the topic over glasses of wine.

The circle of life typically follows a predictable pattern. Child is born, child grows up and learns the meaning of society and its place in its fabric, child discovers companionship, finds a romantic interest, expresses love through desire and in the act of consummation, procreates, setting in motion, the circle of life, before dying itself.

But what if we misunderstood that last link in the so-called circle? What if we can continue to pedal a cycle even though we didn’t create it?

My wife and I were struck with that question at pretty much the same time and literally stumbled upon the topic over glasses of wine. Just as well that we were drinking wine because that conversation aged well. We next spoke about adoption almost eight years later. We realised we felt the same way about it. It didn’t mean we wanted to do it right away, but it was something that we would consider. At this point, we already had one daughter.
