why_being_a_strict_mom_is_good

It’s very easy to be a good mom but very difficult to be a bad one. It’s easy to be good because kids are easy to please. Their demands are simple and more or less within the repertoire of what they see around. It could at best range from chocolates, candies, junk food, cars, toys, books or some more TV time. It’s tough to be a bad parent because you are fighting all these goodies and more. When I hear kids tell their parents that you are the worst parent, you are too strict, my friends parents are better I wonder to myself, really am I bad parent? Ofcourse sometimes we tend to get over dramatic about these things and wonder why am I taking this so seriously, kids don’t even understand all of this and then I ponder over those words again. And then you get into the introspection phase of why am I a bad mother? Here is probably why…

I want you to be independent and self sufficient: I want you to do all your tasks by yourself so you are self sufficient and you can fight your own battles in the game called life

  1. I feed you healthy food so that you are strong and don’t miss a day of fun and because I hate to see you suffer
  2. I don’t let you watch TV while eating your food so that you know what you are eating and what are the different flavours, textures, tastes of the food you eat. It’s clearly the only thing we all work for.
  3. I don’t buy you all the expensive gifts that money can buy because money can’t buy everything and it’s important to understand its value.
  4. I ask you to try harder each time you fall and compete with your own self because I know success is fickle and will never stay with you all the time but hard work and being persistent will.
  5. I teach you because I believe that education is important and that’s the best gift my parents have given me and I want you to have it too
  6. I ask you to count your blessings because I want you to have values, be humble and be kind to those who are less fortunate. These are common qualities in leaders and successful people and I want you to be both
  7. I urge you to play each evening with your friends because it’s a different game each day and these are life lessons no school will teach you.
  8. We don’t do everything all your friends do because I want you to have your own individuality and identity. I don’t want you to just blend in always
  9. I take you to classes that teach you hobbies like music, sport, art and language so you never regret that you didn’t get time or chance to learn it.

I know you will not understand this now but when you do I hope you think I did my best. I hope that you can be a good mother! My mom told me once and I probably will never forget this, “ If your kids don’t think you are the worst parent ever then you haven’t been a good parentâ€_x009d_ .
