Our planet is an amazing place, but it needs our help to thrive! That’s why each year on April 22, more than a billion people celebrate Earth Day to protect the planet from things like pollution and deforestation.
Earth Day promotes international awareness of environmental protection and earth conservation. It’s the perfect opportunity to teach your child about important concepts, such as going green and reducing, reusing, and recycling.
Today I am using Earth Day as an opportunity to celebrate our planet and environment. Get your child in the spirit by making this cool recipe with me using Phool Makhana (Lotus seeds/fox nuts).

Ingredients
- Makhanas/Foxnuts
- Sugar
- Cinnamon powder
- Blue & Green Food colour
- 2 Paper cups
- Green & blue craft paper
Method
- Ghee roasted makhana, divide it into two portions.
- Sugar syrup – 1: 1 portion. 1 spoon of water & 1 spoon of sugar.
- Boil it down to string consistency.
- A pinch of Cinnamon powder adds to the flavour.
- Just half a drop of blue & green food colour (separate containers) into the sugar syrup.
- Added roasted makhana into the syrup.
- Your blue and green rocks are ready to munch on!

Wrapped paper cup using blue & green craft paper. Added googly eyes & a heart was a must Added another cup inside, just not to soil & keep the cup clean
.Note: it’s an one-time affair. I’ll always substitute jaggery minus the food colours This was just to have some fun with my son n Earth day while talking to him about protecting the planet and doing our bit for it.
