A few days ago we introduced you to the concept of Process Art and told you how it helps children learn from the process of creating, and that the finished product is the result of that process, not the goal. This time we guide you on how to take your child’s creativity outdoors and get your toddlers making lovely masterpieces with action packed process art activities. Action art primarily includes activities which involve movement along with the creative process. Though the activities are to be set up by parents, the kids have the creative freedom to express themselves through the medium. Sounds interesting? Find out more with these activities below.

With rains finally bidding goodbye, we are excited to be able to spend time outdoors with the kids. We’ve rounded up the most fun, outdoor, action art projects for kids when they are at home or on a picnic, on an art play-date or as a collaborative play.  So watch your kids have some fun as they get their hands all messed up!

Exploding Art

Warning! This is super fun and super messy too! Pour about a tablespoon of watered down tempera paint into your film canister. Break the Alka Seltzer tablets into half. Quickly drop 1/2 a tablet into the paint, tightly put on the lid and give it a quick shake. Quickly place paint filled canister lid side down on your paper and stand back. The film canister will potentially fly 20 feet in the air, so make sure you are in an open area.  Most of the paint will splatter on the paper, but not all of it. Read more here.
