Children take an instant fascination and liking for pet animals and very rarely would you find them have a dislike or fear for animals. It is often the parents who tend to pass on their fear of animals to children, that makes them stay away from pets. I will confess, I am very scared of animals. But luckily my daughters aren’t as sacred as Mommy Pig is!
When I got my daughters a copy of The Gopi Diaries, even though we don’t have a pet animal at home, it opened up about the world of animals to them, which is more accepting and loving. No, my daughters didn’t insist I bring home a pet, but their perspective and kindness towards the furry friends definitely improved!

- Create a cosy reading corner in your living room. Stash some summer coolers and call the kids over for a reading playdate.
- Make sure your kids and their friends read The Gopi Diaries series first- it’s always a lot more fun when they know the story and the characters.
- Though the activity book is for older kids, (7 above), if you have got younger ones in the house, arrange a storytelling session by the older kids for them. The adorable illustrations by Sandhya Prabhat make this book a personal favourite!
- Get them to share their favourite part about the books and what they liked in the story. You’ll be surprised to hear out the little readers’ perspective.
- And then hand them over this new “Gopi Fun Activity Book” that comes with interesting activities like Spot the differences, solve word puzzles, match the pairs, follow Gopi through a maze, test your knowledge in quiz time, play Sudoku, draw, paint and do crafts and lots more!
