Book the date: April 27th 2013
Go visit and learn about the thousands of beautiful pink birds that come to the Sewri mudflats every year! You and your kids will love to see the sight of the magnificent flamingos. The Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) hosts its annual Flamingo Festival between noon and sunset where you can see almost 15,000 pink beauties. They travel in search of food from their breeding grounds in the Rann of Kutch.
What will you see?
Along with the flamingos you will catch a sight of other birds such as gulls, herons, terns, sandpipers, egrets, ibises, plovers and kingfishers in addition to Mumbai’s pink-feathered friends.
What is there to do?
The main objective of the Festival is to introduce these beautiful birds. And second, it is to use this to make you and your kids to understand how important the conservation of nature actually is and learn about the environmental problems that face us today. There will be a special stall for kids to have fun and learn along with stalls displaying books and other material by the BNHS.
What do I need to carry?
You need to carry Binoculars and you need patience.
