How To Make Your Kids Fall In Love With Reading?

Wishing the parents of all little book worms a book worms-to-be a very Happy New Year! Somewhere among the setbacks, the troubles, the negative vibes and the lows, we need to see a glimmer of hope the year brought upon us. To us, as parents, I would say, it helped us spend more time with our kids- and watch them closely, help understand their likes and dislikes better. 

Our kids packed in a lot of books over 2020 and as a parent- I can't be happier! From trying out new genres to reading more books, they did their bit and as a parent- I count these as our wins! If your 2021 parenting resolution is to raise young readers, you know you are at the right place. 

But often it is not that easy to get kids to fall in love with books. Don't blame the child- instead, retrospect what you are doing wrong or what you could do differently. Instead of imposing rules on your reluctant readers remember the following: 

• Keep books accessible to kids. When in their sight, they will want to access it. 
• Read to them. We can't stress this enough!
• Occasionally, let them pick their book. They will love to feel in control.
• Let them read at their own pace. This is NOT a competition. 
• Make this a fun family activity. This is not something you want them to run away from.
