With schools back on, the learning begins again. While some kids may struggle with spellings or learning new words. These interactive ways will make learning spelling so much easier and a lot more fun. It’s simple, innovative and easy to put to use. It’s all about making it interactive.
1. Playdough/ Pipe cleaner: Use playdough with the kids to sculpt letters or pipe cleaners to bend and form alphabets. A fun way to get kids to form words.
2. Finger Paint: Get messy! Kids can write out words with their finger dipped in paint.
3. Type It: For those kids who love being on the ipad or laptop, parents get them to type different words on Word or Paint.
4. Trace: This one is fun! Either you or the kids can trace the alphabets on the palm or the back and guess the word.
5. Alphabet Blocks: Try the old method of using alphabet blocks to help kids practice spellings.
6. Lego Word: Using tape write the alphabets and stick it on the lego blocks. Jumble them up and then call out a word you want the kids to spell. They will look for the letters and build a tower to form the right word.
7. Markers & Coffee Filters: Using a marker, make the kids write spelling on the coffee filter. Once done, they can create their work into art by spraying water.
8. Hidden Words: Make the kids write spelling on a white piece of paper with a white crayon. Once all words have been written use watercolors and paint to make hidden words appear.
9. Print Words: Use letter cutouts from magazines and newspapers to practice spellings.
10. Cereal Words: Use fruit loops or cheerios to form words.
11. Scrabble Pieces: Use scrabble letter tiles to create words.
12. Sizes: Make the kids write spelling in 3 different sizes- Small, Medium and Big.
13. Roll and Spell: The sides of the dice will be different colors. Roll the dice and depending on the number, use the color to write a word. For eg: If the number 1 is the color blue, then write the word with blue.
14. White Board: Write a word with different spellings and let your kids circle the right one.
15. Search and Circle: Call out a word and let your child find it in a newspaper and circle it.
