The daughter is soon going to be 4 and while searching for her birthday gift I chanced upon the thought of may be an animal for kids is a good idea. A very close friend of mine has a lab named Bongo and the daughter absolutely adores him. We have visited him so many times in Pune and finished so many meals listening to fun stories about him that its always tempting to have one of our own.:)
The daughter also loves all the pet dogs who come to the garden in the evening, taking them for a walk with the owner as she holds the leash. It gives her a sense of confidence that she can do things that even 10 year olds are scared of. We have tried to bring about that love and compassion for animals within her and hope it always stays that way. I feel children who grow up with animals are a lot more loving and caring. Animals in the house can be extremely difficult for a new parent but a child who has grown up with animals just gets used to it.
There are lots of stories about people giving up their pets when they conceive and I find them really sad, but we all know that its a reality. Animals can be so loving that you can just get used to them in no time especially dogs. So the debate is still on whether we should or should not given the match box houses we live in Mumbai whether or not we should get the pup for the daughter.
