After 35 years, the practice of hosting the Republic Day parade has been shifted from Shivaji Park to Marine Drive. The reason being Shivaji Park witnessed minimal public participation on Republic Day.

Here are some things you should know about the parade at Marine Drive this year:

  1. Special arrangements have been made on Marine Drive as it will have a 5-km gallery for the public so that they get an unfettered view of the parade.
  2. The civic body has installed barricades and erect poles at every stretch to unfurl the tricolour.
  3. The flag hoisting will take place between Oberoi Trident and the Air India building by the governor
  4. Earlier in the 1960s, the parade would progress from Hutatma Chowk to Chowpatty and the governor would take a salute at Hutatma Chowk. Later the Republic Day parade was shifted to Shivaji Park due to increasing traffic on Marine Drive.
  5. Youngsters welcomed the change of venue to Marine Drive as they can now view the Parade with ease

This will be a great opportunity for our Indian Kids to see the parade Live!
