My child loves to play the ‘spell the word’ game. And topping the list of words he wishes to spell is his own name. He is enchanted by the way we teach him to spell each letter and when we are done, he is all smiles! Experts say that name recognition is an important part of early literacy for preschoolers. There are lots of fun and easy to set up activities to reinforce the concept. Kidsstoppress has put together name activities that are hands-on, fun, and enjoyable for you and the little ones.

Salt, Glue And Water Colour Experiment
Begin by writing your child’s name on a sheet of paper. Ask your preschooler to trace the name first with glue then pour salt over it. Remove excess glue and they will be amazed to see their name appear on the paper. To make it more interesting and colourful, have them colour the letters in the name with water colours filled in a dropper. It’s a great science experiment that helps develop various skills.

This is a unique take on a scavenger hunt where the kids hunt for the letters of their names in the order of their appearance. It adds an element of fun to a learning activity with a twist. To set this activity weave yarn in and out, under and over your dining room table and chairs and all the furniture around the room. Clip the letters of the name on the string and give them starting point of the yarn, from where they can run their hand along the yarn to find their way through the course. After they collect all the letters ask them to spell their name.
