I have at least 50 such ads flashing at me every single day as if to constantly challenge my parenting skills. Being a mother in the digital age is a double-edged sword. Despite the many apps and digital books available online, nothing can really replace the charm of the books. The touch of a book and the memory it triggers is always special, even if we outgrow them. Amidst the myriad classes, and constant pressure to create a competitive environment for kids, I decided to join a quaint library which gave my child and me an opportunity to spend quality time while also having some fun.

In the current scenario where all of us are now homebound, on a quarantining mode, it would be especially good to also detox ourself from the digital hysteria. The constant Whatsapp forwards, Facebook posts, Twitter notifications and news flashes about COVID-19 can be overwhelming and exhausting. In such times, simple pleasures of reading books with kids can be a great mood lifter, and can also reconnect us with our childhoods.
