I know all the parents in the city will be elated to finally have the aquarium open after a long renovation of over 18 months. Clearly to see the turtles and the fishes in that sorry state was disturbing.

The aquarium finally opened late Tuesday evening by Chief Minister Devendra Phadnavis and saw an investment of Rs 20 crore. While we are still waiting for the long queues and finishing touches to end hopefully by this weekend we promise to head out and share our experience as well. The 64 year old aquarium has now been renovated and promises to be a wonderful place for kids and adults.

We will be there this weekend so stay updated with us on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.

At the entrance, visitors will be greeted by an oceanarium  which is made of a four inch thick glass. Though there isn’t much change in the infrastructure. There are still some changes that will entertain the kids.

The new aquarium houses around 2,000 fish of over 400 species, most of them imported from Hong Kong and Bangkok. It is grouped into fresh water, tropical and miniature and there are special pools, where children can touch fish which are harmless. The fish will be in large glass tanks, which will be lit with LED lights

There is also a 50-seat amphitheatre which will start screening 10-15 minute documentaries for kids.
