Busy Moms- Pause, Take A Look At The Mirror & Ask Yourself This Question

I remember strictly following a healthy skin care routine where I would wash my makeup off, moisturise thoroughly, and ensure my skin was well hydrated every night. I knew taking just 10 minutes every night to take care of your skin meant it would glow and remain supple for years to come. Every night I try and earmark some time for a skin care routine, but as any mom will tell you getting food on the table, changing kids into their jammies, reading a story and tucking kids into bed seems to take way longer than necessary, leaving us with just enough energy to crawl into bed ourselves! With mommyhood and entrepreneurship taking top priorities- my skin care had taken a backseat over the years.

Being an entrepreneur is a dream come true for me. I have enjoyed the process- right from giving birth to an idea, nurturing it into a business and watching it grow and develop into what it is today. Along with Kidsstoppress, I am also a mom to two children and parenting and bringing up three kids is a task that can stress the calmest mom out!

Moms come in many different shapes and sizes but at the heart of it, not a single mom would hesitate to put her needs last when it comes to her children. I grew up knowing full well that taking care of your skin daily has its own rewards. I remember strictly following a healthy skin care routine where I would wash my makeup off, moisturise thoroughly,  and ensure my skin was well hydrated every night.

I knew taking just 10 minutes every night to take care of your skin meant it would glow and remain supple for years to come. The mantra ‘skincare starts from the beginning and not just later on in life’ was ingrained right from childhood. But despite all that I used to do, now, between endless meetings and running from school to after-school classes, homework, meal times and everything else in between, something had to be sacrificed. Over the years, that has meant my skin care routine taking a backseat.

So here is what I do for my skin daily:

  • I am conscious about drinking enough water.
  • I eat healthy.
  • When I do use makeup I make sure to not use harmful chemicals.

And that's it. Obviously, not enough. Especially after the torture, years of motherhood and entrepreneurship have inflicted upon it.

Every night I try and earmark some time for a skin care routine, but as any mom will tell you getting food on the table, changing kids into their jammies, reading a story and tucking kids into bed seems to take way longer than necessary, leaving us with just enough energy to crawl into bed ourselves!

I wasn't about to give my skin too much until on a recent business trip I happened to notice that the greys had substantially increased and the skin looked more tired than usual. While I could find quick fixes for my hair, what about my skin?

Was it the excessive travelling I was doing lately? Was I eating unhealthy? Or was it all the work-related stress? There simply isn't one explanation. My skin did look dull and lifeless. Were those crow feet near the corners of my eye? They were surely not cutesy laugh lines! Motherhood, sleepless nights and stress levels seemed to have finally caught up and that meant, I had to carve some time out for myself.

But as little time as possible. That's why the Olay 28 day Skin Transformation challenge sounded perfect!

My skin needed a jump start after all the brutality it had been through and I needed a cream which would give me that gently. Olay is well known for visible skin transformations with products that are suited to every skin type.
