The summer vacations have been an extended one in some states, thanks to the gruelling summer and that meant more time for the kids at home. One thing that is insisted in our house is quality reading time– both for the kids and us! There is just so much imagination a book can kindle in us- in the younger minds especially.

We are back this week, with a new book that we feel is suitable for your little ones aged 8 years and above.

What is the book?
The book is interestingly titled “Kitten- The Dog” and is written by Priyanka Talreja Garegrat and published by Penguin Random House. The author Priyanka, who is a storyteller at heart, had contributed to reputed publications such as Mid Day, The Hindu and has worked for Amar Chitra Katha and DNA. This book marks her foray into fiction writing for kids.
What’s the book about?
We all know how kids love pets, right? It is an unexplainable emotional bonding they develop, sometimes even before bringing home a pet. That’s exactly what happens to little Margi, who is going through an emotionally tough period over a death of a loved one and yearns for a pet. She asks her dad for a cat and just when her dreams look to be realised, she finds out that her dad has brought home a Chihuahua and not a cat. She isn’t quite satisfied but looks to turn the fortunes by raising this little dog like a cat!
The book is all about how Margi raises her little dog by naming it Kitten and all the adventures they enjoy together. All things happy until his roots come back to drag little Kitten away from Margi. What happens next forms the crux of the story.
