As a parent, we know you have been hearing, quite a lot, about the benefits of introducing STEM through games and daily activities to your child. Start early they say, and start well. STEM, or Science Technology Engineering and Math, is all pervasive, it is part of daily life and that is precisely why it is so important to get our kids interested in these subjects. We were all kids once. Do you remember how much we hated being told to sit down and read from those heavy, thick science textbooks? Make learning fun and your kids will want to learn. That’s what the Curiosity Club wants to do.

The brainchild of Yuti Jhaveri, who was greatly inspired by the science zones in children’s museums around the world and wanted to replicate it on a smaller scale in India. Armed with a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University (USA) and after working with a healthcare research consultancy, she entered the stock market and managed investment portfolios for seven years. But her love for science and the need to have children fall in love with science (inspired by her experiences with her own child) she decided to set her long time dream into motion by setting up The Curiosity Club.

What is The Curiosity Club

With STEM activity centres being commonplace across the world, it was high time for Mumbai to get its very own and The Curiosity Club has arrived to fill that void. The Curiosity Club (TC2) will provide a space for kids to explore concepts and functioning of things they encounter in daily life. This way they find meaning behind things they see and use daily and give wings to their creativity.

How do they do that?

The idea is simple — how do you get kids excited about learning about STEM? At The Curiosity Club a play and learn approach is used. The center is equipped with toys such as LEGO and Fischertechnik, KNEX, Engino — all of which work on STEM based learning principles. Children can learn to build, explore, design and create which are the basic principles of experiential and experimental nature. The Club also has instructors who will sit with kids and work on well researched and designed lesson plans, all while making learning fun and imparting STEM knowledge through play.

So if your child is wondering how they can balance on a see-saw or even how planes fly and ships sail — the answers are all here. So through play a child learns to think critically and creatively look at the hows and whys behind things they see and use daily.
