As mothers, we tend to neglect our health at times. It is very essential to have complete awareness and understand the perils of the disease and know how breast cancer can be prevented by using simple techniques or modifications to our lifestyle. Here’s a list of scientifically proven ways in which Breast Cancer can be prevented:

1. Be active, be healthy

This should be the thumb-rule in the house. The one sure way to remain healthy and prevent any ailment is to maintain an active and healthy routine. Exercise and a fit body is a must for a healthy body and mind and not just for cosmetic purposes. The American Cancer Society has stated that obesity and an unhealthy lifestyle increase the risk of breast cancer.

2. Avoid stress

Stress is known to be a proven precursor for most of the modern-day diseases. It is not without reason that our grandparents and forefathers inculcated yoga and meditation as a part of our daily lives to reduce the unwanted stress that we put ourselves into. Excess worrying and stress impact the body and the mind, releasing harmful toxins and increases the risk of any type of cancer. Teach yourself and your children to be cheerful and stress-free.

3. Reduce the exposure to harmful radiations

The tech-era has made us all smarter, wiser and extremely talented, agreed. But we hardly realize that we are paying a slow and heavy price to the innumerable radiations around us. Researches are constantly underway to prove that cell phone radiations indeed increase the risk of cancer. Make sure you set an example to your children by optimizing the use of gadgets inside the house. Have a strict time-out (during meal time or in the bed) and enforce it with your kids to secure their future.

4. Eat Healthy

Take the lead and show your family that healthy can be made tasty at home. Recent research studies have shown that a meal plan rich in fruits and vegetables helps prevent breast cancer and breast cancer recurrence. Indian foods like turmeric and green vegetables like broccoli, apples, pomegranates etc should be made a part of your diet every day.

Spread the word and show you care.
