  • New school structure will be 5+3+3+4 – this curriculum with 12 years of schooling and 3 years of Anganwadi/Pre-schooling

  • What this means is  – It proposes a new Curricular and Pedagogical Structure, with 5+3+3+4 design covering the children in the age group 3-18 years.
    • Under this, Pre-Primary & Grades 1-2 is considered as foundational Stage;

    • Grades 9-12 as Secondary Stage.

This is an academic restructuring only; there will be no physical restructuring of schools

  • There will be no rigid separation between arts, sciences, curricular and extracurricular activities.

  • Institutes included the IITs will be multi-disciplinary. Multiple exit options and certifications for under-grad degrees will be available and can be 3 or 4 years. All graduation course will have major and minor. Example – science student can have Physics as Major and Music as minor also. He can choose any combination.

  • 6th grade onwards practise based curriculum to be designed and from 8th to 11th-grade students can choose subjects
  • All higher education will be governed by only one authority.
