Nita Ambani Launches Reliance Foundation Youth Sports, Aims To Create A Sporting Culture Across The Country

The Mumbai leg of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports- an initiative to promote and professionalize school and college sports in the nation was launched by Chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani, on the 27th of August, 2016. Earlier this year, Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi digitally launched the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports along with Mrs. Ambani and Vijay Goel, Hon.

The Mumbai leg of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports- an initiative to promote and professionalize school and college sports in the nation was launched by Chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani, on the 27th of August, 2016. Mrs. Ambani, who is also a part of the International Olympic Committee kick-started this innovative and interesting venture to popularize sports and tap young talent in an event along with Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor. Earlier this year, Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi digitally launched the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports along with Mrs. Ambani and Vijay Goel, Hon. Min of Youth Affairs & Sports.

According to Mrs. Ambani, RFYS aims to revolutionize school and college sports in India and provide a platform to student athletes to build a career in the sport of their choice. “Through the RFYS initiative, we are committed to creating a sporting culture across the country by developing talent at the grassroots level and making sports an integral part of education”, she says.

Tournaments of high standards with excellent support facilities will be conducted to give the school and college students a chance to showcase their talent and the deserving athletes will win themselves scholarships and training programs.  The programme starts with football as the focus this year.

Students from cities such as Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Goa, Kochi and Guwahati will be participating in the RFYS and the numbers are soon expected to increase. The team of RFYS proposes to reach 16 cities by year 2(2017-18) and over 32 cities by year 3 (2018-19). The Foundation has also set up a six-member advisory board consisting of veterans such as Sachin Tendulkar, Leander Paes, Saina Nehwal, Dipak Jain, Ranbir Kapoor and Nita Ambani.
