Language is a mode of communication and to communicate it is very important to know how to read and write. There are 26 letters but there are 44 sounds of the English alphabets out of which 20 are vowel sound and 24 are consonant sound.

Now to teach children how to read you first need to tell them basic phonetic sounds of English alphabets

Tips for parents to start with phonics:

  • Expose your child to the basic 44 sounds of the English language.
  • Read stories to them as much as you can
  • Stress on the particular sound while reading
  • Motivate them to listen when you talk to them
  • Speak the sentences such as, “ the big bad bear bangs and bashes the bubbles” or “ she sings a solitary song”
