Name: Sajan Prakash
Age: 22 years
State: Kerala
Event: Swimming

Highlights:

  • His impeccable record of three silver and six gold medals at the National Games in 2014 fetched him the coveted Olympic berth, even ahead of some seniors who have represented the country in the past.
  • According to the points given by FINA (International Swimming Federation), Sajan’s performance might not be greater than his international peers, but for this youngster from Kerala, the Olympic experience  is a great ask.
  • The urge to excel in sports is in Sajan’s blood. Son of famous Indian athlete Shantimol who was part of the winning relay team at the 1990 Beijing Asia Games, Sajan is waiting to live his mom’s dream of an Olympic performance which she missed by a whisker in 1987.
  • An ardent admirer of Michael Phelps, it is a dream come true for Sajan to be competing with the legend himself. In fact, after his National Games performances, he is touted as “India’s Michael Phelps”.

Good luck, Sajan!
