We have been raised in a society where there is an obvious discrimination. From what time we can step out to what time we need to head back home, to what we should wear and what we shouldn’t, girls have it all chartered and sorted. No discussions, only instructions. As parents of today’s generation, we are slowly ready to beat the discrimination and raise our kids equally. We are all up for changing this discrimination, we are ready to lend our support, but a lot of us urban parents, are clueless on where to start. MIXX looks to answer that question.

What is Mixx?

MIXX was born out of this idea of no rules, and no codes, one of many steps towards a gender equal future. A brand envisioned by Ruchika Parab, Janina Frahm and Shruti Singhi, MIXX has launched their first product-a straight-fit basic cotton tee in adult and kid sizes.

The inspiration behind this?

The focus is on “starting a dialogue” they tell us. The ultimate goal is for a gender equal future and MIXX is about being part of the process.

MIXX isn’t just an apparel brand. They look to create different experiences to be able to interact with people across a spectrum of things – like art, design, film, fashion, literature, even food. As a first initiative, they have introduced the unisex cotton tee in various sizes for kids and adults, with the line “boys equal girls” written across.

How to order?

The adult tees are priced at Rs. 999/ and the kids’ collection (from 4-10 years) starts at Rs. 749/. They are available in various sizes and are made of 100% organic cotton. They have a pop-up at Blue Tokai, Mahalakshmi, and will soon be available at Filter, Kalaghoda. You can shop online at bemixx.com.

What Kidsstoppress thinks about it:

  • The idea is novel. To initiate a dialogue or a conversation on a much-needed topic, MIXX has taken the first step forward in an interesting manner. They have bigger plans with regard to collaborations, and we can’t wait.
  • If you would love to dress up your little boy and girl in a gender-neutral way, here is an ideal option. The kids collection, in a pleasant turquoise green colour, makes for a simple, comfortable yet trendy wear.
  • Each product comes along with their Zine, that features a range of collaborators, and is the ideal vehicle for new ideas and thoughts to reach people.
