Who said TV isn't entertaining or helping the kids? In my house, I use the TV as a bonding tool between me and the kids. Watching movies or shows together is an absolute non-negotiable in my home and I am happy it is a part of my routine, however busy my day looks!

A sign of a good parent is also the one who can laugh at themselves because that is exactly what this show, that I am talking to you, is all about.

Pro-tip: Before the show starts we are done with dinner, brushing, bath, changing to night suits, et al. Phew! That was otherwise an hour-long one-way communication (with me losing my energy and patience!) which is now done before 8.00 p.m in flat 30 mins. Howzzat?!

So what show am I talking about that got us, the Zaveris, all cuddled up in front of the TV every single night? The show is called "The Middle", on Comedy Central and also airs on and for those of you who are familiar with this show- my kids call me, Frankie, these days!

What's the show about?

It's a 9-season drama of a family of 5, mom dad and 3 kids and how the parents are failing miserably in doing so many things and how their kids respond to their empty threats and how nothing, (I mean nothing!) is in order in that house! can resonate a lot with what happens in yours, is it?

Here's why we love The Middle as a family.

1. It teaches us, as parents, to admit our flaws and laugh at ourselves! How often do we do that, again?

2. It teaches the kids how sometimes they are overreacting and they end up saying things they actually don't mean? Expect some hugs and apologies when you watch this show.

3. An insight into the mind of a parent (which is scary though!)

4. How moms just get influenced by other school moms and neighbours and drive themselves up the wall. Seriously, we need to pause and breathe at times.

5. The strength of being a parent and fighting all odds to make things happen for our kids. We have it in us, don't we?!

Each episode teaches the kids something new about grandparents, competition, the value of money but all of these with humour without sounding too preachy. It's also the perfect way for us to end the day in snuggle looking at another family that is as crazy as ours!

Go ahead watch the trailer of this series and if you have watched the show let me know how you liked it.
