Making sure that your kids are regular with their food habits is a tough task. Further we know how boring healthy foods are in looks and appearance. So how do you serve your kids to ensure they empty the plate proactively with interest? We say presentation matters and the first impression is the last impression. Kids are easily attracted to colours and patterns. Something that looks colourful and matches the fantasy world that they live in. As moms we always try to win the battle with kids versus veggies. So here we present before the mummies some craft ideas with food to put in that extra bite in your kids tummy.

This mother has invested real time and effort with foods to creatively make dishes to ensure that the food does not stay in the plate. She is Selena Kohng – a mother and a writer by profession from Chicago. With some differently shaped cutting tools you can master some kid’s friendly shapes that are an all-time hit. Have a look at some of her healthy drawings and dish out some ideas for yourself too.

  1. A flower for your bud – a leaf shape cutter can do more than just cutting. With the help of one such cutter cut out mangoes into petals. With bread topped with chocolate flavoured peanut butter or Nutella spread and a celery stock with pear leaves can create a wonderful sunflower. You can alternatively use cheese to create sunflower petals.

2. Popcorn Bento – You can avoid those fatty and unhealthy snacks with this one. A mix of caramel and salty popcorns along with pear and apple fruit slices is the healthy and a colourful way to go. Cut out some oranges or a seasonal fruit in different shapes to add to the quantity and tastes.

3. Capitalising on the leftovers – every leftover need not be wasted. You can creatively include it in the breakfast in the early part of the day. You can use aluminium cups to ensure the food is in separate containers. You also get such made tiffin’s, so use them. Those boiled corns and tacos from a Sunday evening part can be quiet a bento. bento food art

4. Blueberry/grape rainy day – That’s the weather forecast. Use banana and/or pears to create cloud, grapes/blueberry for rain drops and an apple to create an umbrella. Your rainy landscape is ready.
