Book Review: Karisma Kapoor’s Yummy Mummy Guide

With the internet and smart phones, not sure if you really need Prenatal & post natal advice from a book that you can’t keep going back to at all times3. What to buy for the baby and you is recommended at most prenatal & Lamaze classes so again I’m not sure if I will go back to a book for that. The last and most important reason I just couldn’t connect with the book was because I don’t have a personal trainer and an entourage to manage my kids schedule & diet . While the book has its little sweet moments like the Affirmations that will motivate a lot of moms it also has nothing new that sparks an idea I would try today.

Karisma Kapoor yummy mummy guide book review

I bought this book on the kindle soon after the book was announced. Its an easy breezy read and if you are already a mother of two then I would urge you to totally skip it. This is a Kidsstoppress Exclusive with no published reviews of this book yet.

What it talks about:

1. Diet & weight Loss

2. Exercise

3. Make up & fashion

4. Baby and mommy shopping list prenatal

5. Discipline

Why you should buy it?

1. If you are a Bollywood buff like me

2. If you want to be a Yummy Mummy and are struggling with the baby weight that refuses to go

3. If you want to know what is life all about for a Bollywood mom?

Before we get into the Why not’s here is the video of the launch of the book

Why You should not buy it?

1. There is nothing new that’s not mentioned on Babycentre or Kidsstoppress or your friend hasn’t told you about already.

2.  With the internet and smart phones, not sure if you really need Prenatal & post natal advice from a book that you can’t keep going back to at all times

3. When you are pregnant I don’t think you can or should trust anybody except your mom and your doctor. You feel responsible for the human inside and as an instinct your doctor will be the only one on your speed dial. So for any issue big or small its best to just refer to him than any other source.

4. What to buy for the baby and you is recommended at most prenatal & Lamaze classes so again I’m not sure if I will go back to a book for that. Also there are lots of cultural differences so might be tricky to follow this.

5. Karisma definitely gives us a peak into her workout regime and quite a detailed version of that but again if you are already working out and know that terminology then its fine but otherwise can be tough to attempt.

6. The last and most important reason I just couldn’t connect with the book was because I don’t have a personal trainer and an entourage to manage my kids schedule & diet . For us regular moms challenges are very different and fitness is ofcourse one of the important ones but we have to structure it within our scheme of things.

While the book has its little sweet moments like the Affirmations that will motivate a lot of moms it also has nothing new that sparks an idea I would try today. Karisma does disappoint us this time with book that you can finish in no time or probably start and finish at a book store itself. But I will give it to her for foraying into a completely different territory and sharing her fitness secrets to the T
