Cafe Nemo opens at Worli Village and kids are allowed

A cool new hangout in Worli that allows kids, doubles up as a meeting place in worli(goodbye cafe Coffee Day ) and has a banquet too. The owners describe the menu as agnostic at Cafe Nemo, which is interpreted as a mix of Asian and European flavours. Cafe Nemo is definitely my go to place for quick meetings, Friday night drinks and maybe an early, mid week or weekend meal with kids.

Cafe-Nemo-2

We were at Cafe Nemo last week for the tasting week and this one is something I was looking forward too. A cool new hangout in Worli that allows kids, doubles up as a meeting place in worli(goodbye cafe Coffee Day ) and has a banquet too. I would have chosen to walk to this one but on a rainy Tuesday evening driving to Nemo was our only option. Located at Thadani Village which I have never been to before inspite of living in Worli for almost a decade now, its a quaint little property at Worli Village.

Just before we handed over our keys to the guy for valet parking the husband and I discussed why Nemo? Could it be an all seafood restaurant – so not too many options for us or because you need to find it or maybe there is something else. When we met Anup one of the co – owners of the place he explained to us the real reason on why it’s Cafe Nemo. I won’t let the suspense get out and you must find out when you get there.

Cafe nemo wall

The cafe is divided into 5 sections, one was still not under wraps when we got there.  The first one a cafe like setup, the second a dining space, the third a bar area with foldable table and lastly the banquet that can hold a gathering for about 70 people.

The food is a pleasant change with no regular, pastas, risottos. The owners describe the menu as ‘agnostic’ at Cafe Nemo, which is interpreted as a mix of Asian and European flavours.

Cafe nemo bao bun

We went on to try the Bao buns which is not the usual in a lot of restaurants in Mumbai. The chubby pita bread is what I would best describe it as was soft and absolutely fresh. Next up was the Shitake & tofu gyoza which was delicious and full of flavour. A definite order again on my next visit. I know the daughter will love this too. Without any discussions the Seoul Bowl was next on my list to try. Again bursting with flavours, rightly cooked and a portion that’s right for maybe 2 people. Great dish to order for a family main.

Moving on to a classic Margherita  pizza next. So if a restaurant has pizza on it’s plate I can never not try it. The pizza base was crisp but not your usual papad pizza that you get Indigo or Terttulia . It’s got it’s own character but it’s not what you will go back to Nemo for.

The cocktails were a refreshing change and my favourites were the Mick Jaggery, Zucchini Sea Salt and Thai Bloody Mary.

Cafe Nemo Creme pot

For deserts if you love dark chocolate then you will love the dark chocolate pot. It’s got great texture and the taste lingers for a while.

Cafe Nemo is definitely my go to place for quick meetings, Friday night drinks and maybe an early, mid week or weekend meal with kids. They plan to start breakfast post the monsoons and I am clearly looking forward to that.
