One of the places kids love to go to is the zoo. They see the different animals and learn so much about them. To them, it’s the most amazing and fascinating thing! Seeing animals in picture books and physically in front of them- are two completely different experiences. (like how a cheetah doesn’t roar but meows, can’t wrap your head around that?)

And since kids love animals, I have some news that will surely make them the happiest! After being extinct in India for over 70 years, ever since 1952, they have come back to this land. Any guesses which animal this is? Well, let me tell you- it’s the Cheetah!

The Cheetahs Are Finally Here:

You must be already aware of this project as it is all over the news and the net. This information has been on our timeline and surely on yours, we couldn’t be more excited! It’s true, 8 cheetahs have been bought all the way from Namibia, South Africa to Kuno National Park, Madhya Pradesh. Being the first translocation project of its kind, that is the first intercontinental translocation. It surely has a lot of expectations and risks. Like, will they be able to adapt to the new environment? Will they flourish?

However, the Vice Chairman of the Indian Forest Services focuses on the good side of this. Like the balance in animal diversity, increase in local employment, research assistance, etc.

Even though there’s a debate going on about how the crores of money spent for this project could rather be put for the conservation of other endangered species in India, or for the upkeep of our forests. The opinions are mixed- What do you think? Was this a good approach?
