We are already on the last week of January in the new year and that means Republic day is upon us. This holiday why not engage your children in a fun craft activity while teaching them symbols associated with India. Our national flag, emblem, animal, flower, etc. We used supplies commonly found around the house and came up with these super simple crafts!

Activity 1 – The Scrap Book:

Instructions:

1. Print out the images of various National Symbols of India. Get ready with the basic supplies needed for each activity and have a great time together.Here are the activities we did for each of the National Symbols

  1. Indian National flag  Powder Glitter Activity. Supplies- Glue, Orange and Green glitter powder
  2. Lotus– Leaf painting Supplies- Leaves  from your backyard and paints
  3. Peacock– Finger Painting Supplies- Fingers dipped in paint
  4. Mango– Foam  Mosaic Supplies – Glue and pieces of craft foam
  5. Map– Outline the Map with a string Supplies- Glue, Orange and green Wool
  6. Emblem – Pompom  Dabbing Supplies- Pompom, cloths pin and paints
  7. Tiger– Pasting yellow  paper stripes Supplies-  Stripes of yellow crepe paper and glue.

After finishing the activities stack all the sheets together and punch them. Tie the sheets with a ribbon and you have your little booklet ready. Flip through the pages of this book with your child and have a lovely time together learning about India. Hope you enjoy doing these activities as much as we did. Happy Republic Day!!
