Here’s Why Neha Dhupia Chose To Hide Her Pregnancy. Do You Agree?

Mommies-pause for a second to answer this question. When did you announce at work that you were expecting? And that you would be taking a break from work? All of us- at some point in time- have given this question a thought and decided to put off sharing the ‘good news’ at work in fear of glances being exchanged by the peers or the manager coming up with lesser competitive roles. Yes- we ‘ve all been there. 

And remember you are not alone. Bollywood’s leading actress Neha Dhupia who has made it to the news for her marriage to actor Angad Bedi and her surprise pregnancy announcement knows exactly how you feel.

In a recent interview to Mid-Day, the talented actress has announced that she had kept the news of her pregnancy under the wraps for obvious reasons.

 “I didn’t want to tell people that I was pregnant for a large part of these nine months because I didn’t want people’s attitude towards me to change. I was worried people would stop offering work. It was a good thing my bump wasn’t showing till the sixth month because appearances matter here, and one might be assumed to be unfit for a job.”

And when questioned about moms taking the maternity break vs those who continue to work- Neha Dhupia had the perfect reply. 

“It’s not that I am against women who decide to take those months off. It’s my choice.”

In the recent times, it is heartening to see leading actresses like Kareena Kapoor, Lara Dutta and now Neha Dhupia champion the cause of women continuing to work even during pregnancy and slaying it too! Neha Dhupia is excited about this phase of her life and has a word of advice for fellow mommies-to-be too!

“I promise you it is the sweetest feeling ever. And it is so wonderful to see women come to work with their pregnancy. It is so empowering. I just want to tell everyone out there that this is no reason to sit at home and you should just come out and work every day. Make your child already ready for it and feel special, that’s the most important thing”
