You are not the only one who is about to have a bad case of Monday morning blues. This Monday all of us will be getting back to work after Diwali break. It will be worse for kids getting back to school after nearly two weeks off! So we understand the pain and we have 6 simple tricks and tips to make sure the back to school transition is as smooth as can be.

1. Let them have fun through the holidays and don’t try to change their routine. Which means maintaining their routine despite the holidays. Don’t skip naps, let them stay up late etc. Kids will wake up at their scheduled time and catch up on sleep through the day. This will help them get back on track faster.

2. Get school stuff organized before you set off on your holiday or as soon as you come back. If you are coming in only a day in advance then definitely keep things ready before you leave. It is a good idea to even just corral all the things you need for school in one place so the night before you aren’t hunting for supplies.

3. Make sure to iron uniforms and keep a set ready with socks, clips, badges, ID cards within reach for Monday morning. Don’t forget to polish shoes!

4. Plan your weekly menu in advance: This is one of my favourite activities and it always gets my children excited too. A great way to get them excited about Monday is to make sure Monday morning breakfast is super exciting! Always put the yummiest treats for Monday breakfast and snack box.

5. Try and get your children excited about what school has planned for the coming week, so they begin to look forward to it. For example, once the kids get back to school, it is time to celebrate Children’s Day. Try talking about what their school has planned for the day and give them something exciting to look forward to.

6. If their sleep patterns have been erratic try waking them up 15 minutes early a few days earlier or even on Monday morning. The week will be much smoother.
