Ramzan is the fasting month for Muslims across the world. They fast from dawn to dusk and don’t eat or drink anything. The month ends with a huge celebration – the breaking of the fast on Eid al-Fitr. Even though traditionally kids don’t’ fast for Ramzan till they reach puberty, breaking the fast every day, together as a family is important.

We have put together recipes that are healthy and a tasty way to break the Rozas during Iftar.

Dates & Almond Milkshake

The fast is traditionally broken with dates and milk. This Dates & Almond Milkshake is healthy, tasty and kids love it. Dates are rich in iron and when you add them to a shake you don’t need any other sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 10-12 Dates –pitted and chopped
  • 6-8 Almonds – soaked and peeled
  • ¼ Cup Hot Milk
  • 1 ¾ Cup Cold Milk

Method

  • Soak the almonds and dates in hot milk.
  • Grind the almonds, dates and milk to a puree. Make sure it’s not coarse.
  • In a  blender, put the cold milk and date-almond puree and blitz till you have a smooth consistency.

Note:

  • You can add out Dry Fruit Nut Powder to the shake also – ½ Tsp per glass.
  • You can add honey to the shake for babies above the age of 1 year if they like it sweeter.
