This post is more of an activity for you to do than just reading. If you are a man ask yourself to answer the first five things that come to your mind when you hear the phrase “like a girlâ€_x009d_. Also ask this question to the women in your life. If you are women then too please answer this question by asking it to yourself. The answers will leave you in awe. It’s the reflection of how we are as a society, how we live as a society and what we think of women in general as a society. The most important of all, what do we express while what’s running in our minds when we talk about women.
“Like a Girlâ€_x009d_ How are you reading this? I repeat before reading ahead please note down your answer/s. your answer is going to speak a lot more of you think about girls and your experiences on being one or with girls. Let yourself get across at least five points a minimum.
Society is larger a term and understood in lesser capacity. It’s different for every person. Is there a possibility to give an exact count of the number of people in your society? Have we as humans in our defined life spans even managed to reach out to the masses that are born with us? Yes! We keep talking about generations but are limited to only those who we are comfortable with or those who are comfortable with us. And here too people show off. And we think we can sit and comment on society. Don’t we? So how my society is different from yours and what is the so called difference? It’s the age and here I do not mean generation. Your society is not what you see in your Facebook friend list or a group who accompanies you to have a blast every weekend. It’s the people around you, whom you see without choice, who exist around you irrespective of your knowledge and awareness. These are people who are older to you and the ones who are younger to you. You don’t know but silently both these age groups are influencing each other with a lot of unheard interactions. And so this is how you need to pay a little more attention to your answers. That is what you took from your elders and you are giving out to your younger ones. The question is, are you responsible of this fact or how far are you take the responsibility for this fact? If it’s not you then who is it? Is there a timeless authority for society who can cater to generations? To sit and blame on?
Whatever your answer is, you will only get on the better side of praising girls for who they are when you watch this video. This is what we have evolved into. This is a result more than an experiment or a shoot. It’s a study conducted by Research Now and it shows what the phrase “like a girl’ means to girls at different stages if life. Awakening? Or disheartening? I don’t know.  It talks about the self-esteem, confidence and belief that fluctuate in girls with growing age and experiences of being a girl. How much time does it take for a term ‘Societyâ€_x009d_ to change a thought pattern for a breed of mankind that has been into existence for the longest? It’s high time that we study this same boring subject in books, debates and prints. Stop yourself here and ask and whatever the answer is, that is your society, that is what you are living it. I don’t need to explain the rest as you will do the needful. With more than 7 billion people living on this planet, can we get over this debate? I am a girl and I think we were created by the divine when it was in its supreme bliss. So we are here.
