With school admissions becoming so competitive for children of educated parents where there is so much of performance pressure how is it fair on them to have reservations at the primary level where someone else just walks away without any interview or credibility just on caste basis.

Today's DNA reads that Schools will have to ensure RTE from June 2012 and the government is laying down rule to rule out any unfairness in the admission process. As a parent for whom a single point of worry is providing good education to my child I wonder how this is fair to me. While its great to have the RTE I would like to understand the implications on other parents like us to understand the implications on the decrease in no. of seats and the spiralling fee structure. Increasing cost of education today is a huge worry for a lot of parents in the city and with the government willing to pay only Rs 10,000 per child the cost of the other children is bound to fall on the existing parents. As parents there is lots to think about and I think more importantly on institutions and government on how they will bridge the gap and implications on students and their parents.
