While you always have your Landmarks, Oxfords & Crosswords of Mumbai, not all of them stock a lot of Indian authors and a smaller stories that could be great reads for your kids. It is important for our kids to read Dr Seuss & lemony Sticket along with Indian authors like Anushka Ravishankar & Anshumanni Ruddra.

Treasure Books a small family owned book store that houses a lot of the Indian authors along with the best international titles. They also a whole collection of your kids favourite DVD’. The Indian publishers is what keeps me going back to Treasure Books.

Some of the books I picked up from there were, Saboo & Jojo, My Mother’s sari, Aaloo, Maloo aur Kaloo, The moon and the cap and many others. While a lot of our kids speak Hindi & Marathi we don’t tell them stories in those languages. Try reading to your children in different languages. It works brilliantly.

Treasure Books also hosts story telling by parents on Saturday mornings which is free for all and movie screenings on Sundays at a nominal cost.

They also host periodic workshops and activities for kids at regular intervals.
