Activities Today: Fun with feet

WALK ON A LINE: Help your child improve his balancing skills by walking on a line. (Where does a frog stay, he stays on land & in water, what he eats, colour, little ones called, sound he makes)The first time I tried all of these at home was great fun and the next time in the garden with all of my daughters friends. You can also make this into a game of ‘Simon Says’, yeah we played enough of that in school and add many other activities to it like shrug your shoulders, pull your nose, stamp your feet, clap your hands, hug your mums, shake your hands, jump, hop on one leg, etc depending on the age of your child.

Here a few activities that will help your kids develop their gross motor skills well and help them expend enough effort to have a good meal. Yes I did Hear a lot of moms sigh with relief! Do these activities at home or during garden time with a lot more kids around. It works well and keeps them occupied  and interested for a long time

1. WALK ON A LINE: Help your child improve his balancing skills by walking on a line. Tape some masking tape on the floor/draw a straight line with a chalk for your child to walk on.

2. MARCHING BAND: Have your child follow you as you march around the room. Sing along, ” March, March, march like a soldier” (yes you have successfully taught them that a soldier is the one marches)

3. GALLOP: Gallop around the room like wild horses. ( Squeeze in concepts on where does a horse stay, what he eats, young one called, who rides a horse & the sound the horse makes)

4. DINOSAUR FEET: Have your child stomp around the room pretending to be a giant dinosaur

5. WALKING BACKWARDS: Show your child how to walk backwards. See how many steps she can take backwards. Make sure you practice it along with her and then collide to have an accident. That’s what they enjoy the most

6. BUNNY HOP: Ask your little bunnies to pop their ears out and hop a length of the room. (Remind them where the bunny stays, what does he eat, he is soft, has 2 ears, he is fast while the tortoise is slow)

7. FROG LEAP: Get the frog feet and get down on your fours for this activity. Leap from one place to another. This activity not only enhances their gross motor skills but also helps them balance as they leap. (Where does a frog stay, he stays on land & in water, what he eats, colour, little ones called, sound he makes)

The first time I tried all of these at home was great fun and the next time in the garden with all of my daughters friends. This also enhances their ability to listen, comprehend & execute.

So try all of these today and let us know which one was marked as a favourite by your child and did you still hit the gym after an intense cardio session at home. 🙂
