Give your kids the unique opportunity to experience a first-hand interaction with the men in uniform. The Western Naval Command will celebrate Navy Day 2013 with a series of activities for children and their parents starting from the 8th November 2013. This is an annual feature where people from all walks of life get an opportunity to feel the spirit of the celebrations.

Here’s whats in store at the Indian Naval Week:The Indian Naval Band plays a key role during various drills, ceremonies and leads the contingents proceeding to war. Western Naval Command band has a wide variety of talented musicians and will be a treat to the music lovers and children of the city.

Navy Band performances:

Timing: 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on all days

1. Friday 8th Nov at Hanging Gardens,

2. Saturday 9th Nov at Cooperage Band Stand,

3. Sunday 10th Nov at Central Park, Kharghar,

4. Saturday 16th Nov at Phoenix Mills, Parel.

Open Sea Swimming Competition

6 Kilometers distance has been scheduled for any person above 14 years of age. The event has competitions in six categories i.e. Men, Women, Boys under 16, Girls under 16, Special category and Veterans above 50. To register for participating in the event interested people can log on to website www.navydayopenseaswimming.gov.in. The last date for submission of application forms is 17 Nov 13.

When & Where: Saturday 23rd Nov at the INWTC (Naval Sailing Club), Pilot Bunder, Colaba

The culmination of the Navy Day celebrations will be held in the form of ‘Beating Retreat & Tattoo Ceremony’ at the Gateway of India

When: 2nd  – 4th December ; 5:00 PM onwards.

In addition to an enthralling drill, Horn Pipe Dance (by SCC) and band performance kids can also witness the warships at anchorage, air power demo and commando operations. The event can be seen from the Radio Club, Taj Hotel Road, Colaba.
