KSP Book Club: People Called Mumbai

In the KSP Awards 2017- the award for the best Indian Children’s Book Publishers was won by Fun Ok Please and Katha was the runner-up! The illustrations of these 20 special stories, the people featured in it and the city is great and kids will find the book simply unputdownable. Even if you are not from Mumbai, the book will give you enough insights into the buzzing life in Mumbai and the small snippets in each story tell your kids interesting facts about the city.

What is it about?

The name says it all. If you are looking for ways to teach your kids all about the city they live in and why it is special- here is the book you will need. WIth 20 real-life stories about real people- you kids will get to know more about the city, about the life here, about the spirit of the people inhabiting it and why it remains a favourite home for many. Ideal for kids aged 7 and above. You could also read out the book to younger kids. 

The stories in People Called Mumbai were originally curated by People Place Project, as a tool to spark off discussions about the city. It has been adapted for children's reading- as a junior version by writer Vinitha Ramchandhani and Fun Ok Please. 

Why is this book on our shelf?

  • Tales that happen in faraway lands and unknown countries are fun to read but hard to relate to. These stories that happen in your own city, is something your kids can relate to. Watch them get familiar with bun masks, vada pavs and know more about the local potters and paan wallas.
