What initially started as baby food for my kids, has become a part of our adult diet as well. For the kids, I would sometimes add fruit purees to the porridge when they were babies.

When my kids were babies, one of the few things that they really loved was Sathu Maavu porridge. Basically, it’s a super healthy homemade health mix which is rich in protein, dietary fibre and calories. Since it’s made with grains, nuts and millets it makes a very healthy and filling meal. For babies who are weak, the Sathu Maavu powder is perfect for weight gain.

Now what makes it different from other powder mixes is that we use sprouts to make this mix which we all know are highly nutritious. I know the process to make Sathu Maavu powder is long and could seem tedious, but then nothing can beat the health benefits it has. Your baby needs the best food in his/her developmental years and this baby-friendly powder is just what is needed.

What initially started as baby food for my kids, has become a part of our adult diet as well. For the kids, I would sometimes add fruit purees to the porridge when they were babies. As they grew older, I experimented a bit by adding jaggery or salt sometimes. We all liked both versions.

This can be given to babies over 6 months. For babies between 6-8 months, you could leave the dry fruits out. For babies over 8 months, you can add dry fruits.

You’ll find the detailed recipe below.
